Cleanroom apparel is a clothing and related covering material used within cleanrooms that need to regulate low levels of environmental pollutants such as dusts, microorganisms, vapours, and aerosol particles. Cleanroom clothing must be composed of materials that reduce the potential of particles to pass from an employee to the environment. As a result, it is typically constructed of polyester, Teflon laminate, or Tyvek. When worn as a full-body suit, the restricted ventilation of these garments may cause worker discomfort or possibly dangerous heat conditions, depending on the environment. These ergonomic issues can be mitigated by implementing behavioural restrictions such as required break intervals or by wearing suits that are particularly intended to maintain thermal balance.
